15/05/2017CELL BIG LOCAL FUNDING APPROVED FOR 2017-2019
We’re very pleased to announce that the CELL Big Local project funding for 2017- 2019 has been formally approved by our funder, Local Trust, and will be made available to us soon. The funds, totaling £518,634 will be used to support a wide range of projects over the next two years, across the themes of Transport, Jobs, Environment, Housing & Community Buildings, Children & Young People, and Strengthening Communities. A full breakdown of what’s been proposed for the next two years, including costs, can be found in the CELL Big Local Plan 2017-19 in the docs section of our website. Just a few of the projects being funded include: an investment in Ellington Juniors’ new ground, support for the Ellington PARC group and their planned playpark, continued delivery of weekly YMCA youth sessions in Lynemouth and Linton, and financial help to progress the plans for bringing the Lynemouth community buildings together under one roof. The success of all this work depends upon our four villages working together to make it happen. We’d love more residents to get involved and help shape the future of both this project, and, ultimately, the area itself. Being involved doesn’t have to mean a big responsibility. While we’d LOVE to have more residents join our themed task groups, or the CELL Partnership Board (and will provide lovely chocolate biscuits for anyone who does), you can also make a difference in these small ways: • By reading our CELL Life newsletter when it comes out, and let us know your ideas, questions or concerns. • Follow us on Facebook, talk to us about your ideas, tell us when we’re doing a good (or bad!) job. If you want to find out more, or have any queries, please contact Clare, CELL Big Local Project Co-ordinator at clare@cell-biglocal.org.uk or telephone 01670 863000.

Were now approaching the end of our first two years of the CELL Big Local Project, and will soon submit a new plan detailing activities and budgets for the next two years. 17/12/2016Cresswell Pele Tower Community Archaeology Project, Jan-Feb 2017
Im delighted to advise you that Cresswell Parish Council has recently secured Heritage Lottery funding to restore and open Cresswell Pele Tower. A key part of the scheme is a Community Archaeology project which will include evaluation trenches, fieldwalking and related training, details of which are attached. Following on from the success of the Rescued from the Sea project at Low Hauxley, we are very fortunate to have secured the services of Dr Clive Waddington and his team from Archaeological Research Services Ltd to run the Cresswell archaeology project and we are now looking for volunteers to help with all aspects of the project. If you would like to help with the excavations and/or fieldwalking or book a place on the geophysics or fieldwalking training days please respond to this email by specifying the name of the activity/s along with the dates you are available. I will then get back to you to confirm your booking and send out further information. As spaces are limited on some of the activities, bookings will be on a first come, first served basis. I look forward to hearing from you and dont hesitate to get in touch with me if you require further information. Regards, Barry On behalf of Cresswell Parish Council 07986 018242

17/12/2014Plan for first two years ready for submission.
Dear Big Local Residents The draft Plan has now been finalised and agreed and will be submitted to the Local Trust (the official body that channels the national Lottery money into the Big Local projects). We expect to get the go ahead in January. The Steering Group were very much encouraged by the positive feedback given by the Local Trust representatives that visited our meeting in November. They felt that the varied mix of individuals and the progress we have made so far was very impressive. The next meeting in January will be dedicated to discussions around how we now make a formal Partnership of the Steering Group members and others who want to help to take the projects forward. In the meantime we can take a break from everything Big Local and enjoy the festive season. Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and Healthy 2015 Pat McCann Chair CELL Big Local

20/11/2014THE PLAN GOES PUBLIC!
To access the funding for the first two years, we have to submit a plan document to the Local Trust explaining what we want to do, why we want to do it, and how much we want to spend on it. We've spent the last couple of years working towards this document, and it's almost ready to be sent off. If you want to read about the whats and whys, it is now online.
Plan accessible here.

16/11/2014Big Local Plan Presentation
The public meeting organised to present the plan to the residents happened last night. About 80 people turned up, which was pleasing. Seven people signed up as volunteers for the part that interested them. Several questions but really only one complaint about what we're planning. (The complaint was about excluding wheelchairs and buggies from the community bus trial. Noted, but it's a regulation on the minibuses we are using.) A video was made for, and shown at, the meeting: you can view it by using links below. Next step: submit the plan document to Big Local for approval of the funds.

20/01/2014Big Chat Events - Report
The Big Chat events have happened. Half a dozen came the the Ellington one, about twice that to the Lynemouth one. Each started with a presentation of the findings of the survey; these are described in a 55-page report which will shortly be made available to the public via this website and public buildings. Around the wall had been placed a dozen posters listing problems and suggestions under different headings. Each poster had several suggestions - typically one-third from the survey and two-thirds from the plans of other Big Local areas. We were invited to mark those suggestions each of us thought most beneficial, and add comments or further suggestions if we wished. By the end of the sessions, therefore, something like one hundred suggestions had been considered and ranked. We expect a report listing and analysing these shortly.

16/01/2014CELL Big Local Community Survey
CELL Big Local Steering Group is bringing in external expertise from Social Regeneration Consultants and eljay Research for the Getting Started phase of our Big Local Pathway. The purpose of this phase is to build knowledge about residents’ perspectives so that a future vision for the area can be created. This ‘visioning’ enables residents to express their hopes for the future, to say what is important to them, and ultimately to make decisions about how Big Local money should be spent. We want to involve as many residents as possible in the visioning process. Our aim is to spread the word about Big Local and make sure all CELL residents know how to get involved. Moreover, involving as many people as possible offers the best chance of achieving lasting change to make the four communities of CELL even better places to live. Community surveys are valuable tools for obtaining information about resident’s views and opinions on the future of their community and neighbourhood as well as bringing forward people who would not otherwise be engaged in the planning process. We are doing this in two ways:- 1) Postal survey of everyone across all of the CELL Big Local area 2) Door step surveys enabling conversations with residents We have advertised for the recruitment of community researchers. These residents of the CELL area who will be recruited and trained to undertake all of the household survey fieldwork and they will be paid for their work.
